Safe Auto Insurance -- Saving Money; Saving Lives

Would you like to enjoy safe auto insurance discounts? There are things that are necessary. I'll break those things into two sets: Driver Issues and Car's Safety Features...

Safe Auto Insurance -- Driver Issues

1. An easy way to ensure you get cheaper rates is being careful every time you're behind wheels. You'll be making a wise resolution to always avoid being behind the wheels once you take alcohol.

Traffic offences that are associated to having more than the allowed amount of alcohol in your system invariably make you get very high rates. While alcohol-related traffic offences have very immediate and serious repercussions, speeding tickets will as well affect your rates negatively if they pile up. You'll do yourself a world of good by obeying all traffic laws always.

2. Although you can enjoy safe auto insurance discounts without this, it will help you get even better rates: Defensive driving or any other special driving program approved by your insurer.

The reason is simple: Defensive drivers are trained to drive safer. This is particularly important for high risk profiles. Being certified as a defensive driver will save you (especially if you are a young driver) thousands in premiums in a few years. Therefore, do your best to get trained in defensive driving from a recognized center. And, don't forget to tell your agent once you complete the course.

Safe Auto Insurance -- Car's Safety Features

You'll pay far less if you car has a higher safety rating. Opt for cars that have features that increase safety. They will qualify you for a Safe Vehicle Discount.  Examples of these safety features are air bags, automatic seatbelt, ABS brakes and so on...

1. Airbags: You know those bags that spring open when there is a crash, don't you? Apart from keeping you safer while you're in a vehicle, it helps cut down your rate.

2. Anti-Lock Brakes prevent your wheels from locking if you slam on your brake. This means you have more control when you're in difficult circumstances. Furthermore, it reduces your stopping distance.

Even if there were no discounts for this, remember, your life or someone else's might depend on them.

3. Automatic seat belts are required by law so driving a car without them is law breaking. However, some vehicles even do more in order to ensure you do NOT forget: They have a feature that makes it impossible for you to ride in them without wearing the seatbelts.

4. Is your car equipped with electronic stability control (ESC)? This feature detects loss of vehicle control. Once it detects this, it brakes individual wheels. This is particularly helpful if a driver loses control at high speeds on slippery roads.

Apart from the discount this brings, it keeps our roads and vehicle users safer.

But also bear in mind that as with all things insurance, different companies have different weightings for each of these factors. So how do you get the most in safe auto insurance discounts?

Simple! Get and compare quotes from a wide range of safe auto insurance providers. Do this at reputable quotes sites and you'll save yourself hundreds (if NOT up to a thousand) in premium dollars.
